    IDC Asia/Pacific is seeking a highly motivated individual for a position for Sr. Market Research Analyst across the Enterprise Server & Workstation group, based in Bangalore or Delhi.  We are seeking a results oriented individual with more than 3 to 4 years relevant background in either market research or IT industry experience in the area of frontline sales, business development, product marketing or program marketing. Over a period of time, the analyst will have the opportunity to develop into an authority on the enterprise server market in the Asia/Pacific region spanning multiple countries.  The analyst will be responsible for tracking, analyzing and forecasting the relevant market segments across each of the countries on a quarterly basis.  He/ she will be conducting primary research with vendors and channel partners in each of the countries, or by partnering and directing research efforts with relevant country analysts in the local IDC office.


    The analyst will need to possess good communication skills that will be put to test during vendor and channel interviews during the quarterly research process, client/vendor presentations and interactions, and handling media queries.  Reporting to the Research Manager for Enterprise Servers, the primary responsibilities of this position will include: tracking, analyzing and sizing the server market across select countries in the ASEAN region on a quarterly basis, analyzing the competitive landscape, and forecasting the market to determine future spending patterns by different technologies and platforms  


    In addition, he/ she will need to develop a good understanding of the emerging products and technologies and their impact on the enterprise computing demand.  The individual will be required to write succinct and concise quarterly updates/ bulletins and reports.  In addition, the analyst will be responsible for handling client and media inquiries.  Interested individuals that meet the following minimum requirements are encouraged to apply.  Individuals with a minimum 3 years job experience in a market research firm, market intelligence division of an IT company, or those having worked with an IT vendor in mainstream sales, product marketing, business development or program marketing role should be applying for this position.  In addition, post-graduates with exceptional curricula in the area of marketing and market research disciplines are also strongly encourage to apply for this position.·


    Minimum university or college degree, BA, BSc or equivalent - Economics, IT, or Statistics degrees preferred· The candidate’s comfort level with market metrics and an understanding of economic measures and concepts will certainly help.  Written and verbal fluency in English is a must because the analyst will be interacting and communicating with senior executives from vendors and channel partners, The candidate’s ability to effectively communicate in English will be a key pre-requisite. Apart from strong skills working with Microsoft Office productivity tools such as MS Word and MS Excel, the candidate’s familiarity with MS Access or  an another relational database will certainly be a strong advantage.

    • A minimum 2 - 3 years job experience in a market research firm, a market intelligence division of an IT company, or those having worked with an IT vendor / channel partner in mainstream sales, product marketing, business development or program marketing role .  The candidate should have a Minimum college/ university degree – BA/ BSc equivalent but those with MBA will be preferable.
    • Strong quantitative analysis skills, does not necessarily need to have a strong education background/ experience in statistical analysis
    • Good English language business writing skills



    • Excellent communication skills essential – written and verbal
    • Strong interpersonal skills, experience of having worked in a multi-cultural environment will be a key advantage
    • Excellent time management skills while at the same time able to effectively multi-task
    • Detail oriented, meticulous, perseverant, and passion for excellence
    • Highly motivated individual able to work independently, setting work goals and priorities with minimal assistance

    • Ability to write in a concise and succinct manner – the emphasize should be on effectively communicating messages without writing lengthy, convoluted or poetic phrases
    • Able to devote long hours during the peak tracker period, which can last from 2 to 3 weeks
    • Tenacity to work with large data sets for longer periods of time, the ability to mine data for key trends and market dynamics
    • Strong interpersonal skills to work harmoniously with both, regional team members and country analysts located across the AP region


    Key challenges remain around:


    • Travelling to ASEAN countries on a regular basis to maintain, build and further strengthen relationships with system vendors and key channel partners, on an ongoing basis every quarter.
